Sing Yee Yeoh
Sing Yee Yeoh is a consulting actuary in Milliman’s life insurance consulting practice in Hong Kong. She joined the firm in 2010. In her current role, she manages various appraisal valuation projects and provides support to local and multinational insurance companies in the areas of actuarial due diligence, product design and pricing, and financial reporting. She has more than 18 years of experience in the life insurance industry. She has worked on several important merger and acquisition-related and business planning projects in most of the countries in the Asia-Pacific region, especially Hong Kong and Thailand.
Experience
Sing Yee is responsible for the regular EV review of the largest business unit of an Asia multinational company being the Hong Kong subsidiaries.
She is a core member of a team on various important M&A deals in Hong Kong, which include advising NWS’s acquisition of FTLife (2018), Mass Mutual Asia’s sale to Yunfeng Financial Group (2017), and Dah Sing Life’s sale to Thai Hot Group (2016).
Sing Yee has led various appraisal valuation projects of life insurance companies on the sell-side in South East Asia and managed numerous buyside valuation and due diligence work in these markets.
She carried out business planning for potential joint venture opportunities of various bancassurance companies in several emerging markets, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and China.
She provided support to various Hong Kong clients in HKRBC implementation work as well as ORSA- and SST-related work. She also advised Hong Kong clients on EV/VNB reporting under HKRBC framework.
Sing Yee managed various projects related to dividend policy review, participating fund management, and asset share implementation in various markets.
Being the assistant appointed actuary role, Sing Yee assisted in reviewing the product approval, reviewing experience studies, conducting model reviews, developing dividend policy, performing statutory reporting, and providing reinsurance arrangements in Hong Kong and Macau.
Sing Yee managed strategy projects focusing on market benchmarking, including new business margin/ product feature/ pricing metrics/ assumptions benchmarking and expense assumptions benchmarking in Asia.
She is heavily involved in several portfolio transfer-related projects pertaining to direct insurers and reinsurers and acted as the expert witness in one of these projects.
She has carried out market entry research for emerging markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Sing Yee managed the appraisal valuation of Nan Shan—a major life insurance company in Taiwan—and provided support in actuarial due diligence.
She also worked on a variety of other projects:
- Assisted in appointed actuary work for one major bancassurance company in Hong Kong covering product development, profit-testing, statutory valuation, dynamic solvency testing, business plan projection, asset-liability management, and reinsurance contract review
- Led the modeling work of a MCEV product benchmarking exercise for a major Hong Kong insurance company
- Carried out modelling for “Life products” for several non-life insurance companies in South Korea
- Seconded to UK and Spain for EC and MCEV work
